Carolyn Currie And The Love Of Creating Something New

Who is Carrie?

I’m Carolyn Currie, cofounder and Head of Projects at immaculate®. For many (many!) years I worked in banking before heading off to work with women entrepreneurs and – well what can I say – entrepreneurship is infectious and here I am at immaculate®.

What’s your role in immaculate®?

It’s my job to make sure our agreed projects are racked and loaded. I map out the work required, identify any dependencies and/or risks and then manage through the resulting project plan. I love a good project plan; there’s a great satisfaction from ticking off the different tasks and a real sense of achievement when you complete the delivery and progress.

What inspired you to get involved with immaculate®?

I love innovating and creating something new. Researching markets, identifying gaps or new opportunities is hugely satisfying. It was also an opportunity to work with some brilliant people – all expert at what they do. Already I’ve learnt so much about botanicals, the drinks industry and packaging.

What does “Cleaner Taste. Clearer Mind. Kinder Choice.” mean to you?

For me “cleaner taste” is all about the botanicals. I can envisage my first visit to the nursery where our blend was crafted and the many different plants and varieties flourishing there. “Clearer Mind” means I can enjoy a sophisticated alcohol-free drink, stay fresh and drive home. “Kinder Choice” reflects our sustainable approach and the importance of playing a part in local communities as a responsible business.

What’s your biggest challenge and most memorable win so far?

The biggest challenge for me was our initial crowdfunding campaign. We had set out to prove that you could start up a business with £0 and grabbed the opportunity to join a crowdfunding initiative which offered participants incentives and the opportunity to win prizes. The downside was that the campaign ran through Christmas to the end of December. I was spending every waking minute on the campaign while juggling shopping, cooking and hosting extended family. It was completely exhausting but when we won extra £s in the competition and exceeded our £10k target it felt like an amazing win. I felt so grateful to everyone who supported us and pre-ordered that memorable first batch.

What’s your vision for the future of immaculate®?

I’d like to see immaculate® embedded as a drink choice across the UK and exporting globally. Providing a botanical based choice of drink which doesn’t compromise on taste and supports a healthier way of living. Here’s to many new experiences and adventures enabled by a more alcohol-free lifestyle. Live once so enjoy every second to the max.
