Gaynor Simpson: Driven By Projects With Purpose

Who is Gaynor?

I’m Gaynor Simpson, cofounder and Head of Communications at immaculate®. I have worked in PR since 1995 so that's a lot of clients across a lot of sectors! A lot of my work over the past ten years has been with women led and community focused businesses. I am now at the stage where I am lucky enough to have the freedom to seek out projects with a purpose, led by values driven people.

What’s your role in immaculate®?

I look after anything related to our brand, comms and media. I’ve been privileged to be on the immaculate® journey from the outset, working on brand development and strategy, developing our tone of voice, building our charity partnerships and I am also responsible for our journey to becoming a B Corp.

What inspired you to get involved with immaculate®

I love working with people with shared values, people whom I respect and can have fun with whilst we get on with the hard graft. There's also a huge personal Interest in immaculate® for me as I have become very mindful of my alcohol intake over years - the hangover just isn’t worth it. I decided to stop drinking completely at the end of 2024 and It's been a great decision. I feel so much better for it, and I haven't missed out on any fun or occasions. It's just the same, but with the added bonus that you don't feel awful the next day!

What does “Cleaner Taste. Clearer Mind. Kinder Choice.” mean to you?

It’s at the heart of the immaculate® brand. A refreshing, zesty drink without the nasties, which means you can be part of the occasion but also wake up the next morning feeling ready to go and enjoy the day to the full. And a kinder choice simply means making mindful choices when you choose to spend your money. We are all consumers so if you can make a difference when you're making a purchase, why not?

What’s your biggest challenge and most memorable win so far?

We started working on immaculate® a few years back but the pandemic, cost of living crisis and caring responsibilities meant we had to put things on hold for a bit. There have been numerous hurdles to overcome since then. Staying true to our vision and not losing faith has been a real challenge. Entrepreneurship brings lots of ups and downs, but you need to dig deep, surround yourself with good people and keep working as a team. Our most memorable win so far has been bringing the brand to life. Seeing it on the cans and on our new website is hugely rewarding as there's been such a lot of work gone into It. And it looks amazing!

What’s your vision for the future of immaculate®?

To see it as part of a global movement that prioritises wellbeing and the importance of making informed choices about the products that we consume. I’d like to see immaculate® being widely available in venues and shops, as well as an immaculate® community sharing lifestyle tips, recipes and all the positives about not drinking. People worry that when they don’t drink alcohol, they won’t feel included in special occasions, but the reality is that you still have all the same fun but without feeling awful the next day. It's a revelation.

Quick Fire Fun

Favourite immaculate® pour – Keep it simple. Chilled, served in a decadent balloon glass with stacks of ice and a wedge of lemon.

Song on repeat – “Sweet Talkin' Woman” by ELO.  I am a huge fan of ELO, and this track is a banger.

Favourite quote – “I incite this meeting to rebellion." Emmeline Pankhurst, 1913. The suffragette movement started in Manchester, which is where part of my family is from. I'm Lancashire through and through…which probably explains the stubborn streak in my personality.

Favourite ritual – Friday evening in my pjs, phone off, chill out with the family and the dog. Nibbles and immaculate®. Up on Saturday morning, feeling brand new and head out for a 10k run with my pals.

Favourite Film – “The Sound of Music”. The scenery, the songs, a dashing Christopher Plummer. It's all going on. I can't count how many times I have watched it.
